Wayne Swan let Kevin Rudd down on mining tax, Premier Colin Barnett

TREASURER Wayne Swan misled former prime minister Kevin Rudd to believe a mining tax had been negotiated with miners and state governments, Western Australia's premier says. He said the MRRT was a ``complete dog'' of a proposal and "Wayne Swan made a colossal mess of it and basically let Kevin Rudd down, in my view. I was there, I witnessed it first-hand,'' Mr Barnett told Fairfax Radio. See the AAP story reported in Perthnow.com.au here.

The attempt over the weekend to spin the Carbon Tax as a 'tax cut' is just more of the spin we can expect to see from the Government as it tries to impose its Carbon Tax without a mandate and without popular support. The Australian late today reports that none of the impacts of the Carbon Tax or the so-called tax cuts will form part of the Budget or the proposed Summit. This is, of course ridiculous with the Budget presuming to portray revenues and expenditures over the four year forward estimates.
