Super Tax numbers sleight of hand exposed and 'worse for jobs'

The Government has been caught out adjusting the numbers to make its new tax look better and Treasury Secretary Ken Henry can't vouch for quality of Treasury estimates. What he can say is the new tax is worse for jobs than the old tax.

There is a pressing need for Australians to see the fine print and detail of the new super tax deal, with increasing question marks over the numbers.  The Opposition is calling for the modelling and according to The Australian, the Gillard government's new minerals resources rent tax may not raise its promised $10.5 billion in revenue.

Labor senator sold mining shares

Another Labor parliamentarian who knows the super tax is bad while telling the community the tax is good for the country. AAP reports that Prime Minister Julia Gillard is set to face her first political hurdle following revelations a Labor senator sold mining shares a day after the resources super profits tax was unveiled. Make no mistake, the super tax on our entire economy is not just Kevin Rudd policy. Current PM Julia Gillard and Deputy/Treasurer Wayne Swan were part of the tax decision. Some sources say that the Treasurer was the one fighting any compromise.
