Carbon Crankies

Its still early days, but we are starting to get a feel for some of the places around Australia that are crankiest with the carbon tax. Based on the first 1300 signatories of our petition...

By far the crankiest State (so far) is Queensland which leads the petitioner stakes on both absolute numbers and compared to its relative proportion of population. The top 3 carbon cranky states, so far, are:

Qld - 38%
NSW- 34%
Vic - 14%

With the rest of the States and Territories sharing the balance.

The top ten Carbon Cranky electorates, in order are Moncrief (Ciobo  LNP), Bowman (Laming LNP), Forde (Van Manen LNP), Cook (Morrison LP), Fisher (Slipper LNP), Greenway (Rowland ALP), Maranoa (Scott LNP), Cowper (Hartsuyker Nats), Hughes (Kelly LP), Brisbane (Gambaro LNP).

The numbers are still too small to even try to make anything of it, but it is worth noting that around half of those seats are marginal seats. With Government so precariously balanced, Julia Gillard and perhaps Michelle Rowland and others in seats like Greenway, will be hoping the voters have short memories.

(Note for the stats boffins - we know this is not a randomised sample and the numbers are still small, but just live with it. It still reflects where there are sufficiently cranky people to circulate the petition links).
