Carbon Tax Petition- Crankiest regions so far
It's early days, but after just 24 hours our petition participants show NSW as the crankiest state with the proposed carbon tax and the electorate of Macquarie the crankiest region so far.
Now, before the statistics gurus get too upset, the sample is small and the differences between several regions are so marginal that its not a fair call yet.
But because we promised, here are the early trends:
The crankiest three States so far are NSW (34% of respondents) Queensland (26%) and Victoria (16%).When the samples get bigger we'll look at weighting them for the proportion of the population (but probably Queensland at the moment).
The was an even spread of responses across many electorates so we couldn't nominate the top 10. The Top 5 cranky electorates on the Carbon Tax are Macquarie (Marcus Liberal), Maranoa (Scott National) Deakin (Symon ALP) Melbourne Ports (Danby ALP) and Mayo (Briggs Liberal).
This is not a random poll and we don't pretend it is. This is people who have gone out of their way to sign a petition - so they are cranky. Just read their responses to get a feel.
When we get sufficient numbers in the top 10 electorates, we intend to send a message to those MPs so they know how you feel.
We will keep you posted as the numbers increase. but if you think your area should be up there in the "Carbon Crankies", spread the word to let locals know about our petition, so the people can have their say. It should be noted that there is quite a variance between our subscriber list and the respondents, so the word about our petition is being spread because you, the petitioners, care.
Thank you for participating so far. this is just the beginning. But unless there is a substantial public response, the Government will get away with one of the most blatant examples of a broken promise in Australian political history. so please, tell your friends to sign the petition. and get them to tell their other friends as well.
