ComeOn Supports silent majority - petition vindicated by polls
ComeOn's petition on the Carbon Tax is being vindicated by Newspoll which shows a majority of people, or 53 per cent, are now against Labor's plan for a Carbon Tax. And another poll from the TradeUnion supported Essential Media said a large majority of voters believe Julia Gillard should hold another election if she wants to introduce her carbon tax.
ComeOn's Petition appeals to a diverse group of people some who oppose the tax and some who oppose the broken promise - many who oppose both. It calls for the PM to NOT implement the tax before she takes it to the people at an election in recognition of the fact she specifically told people during the 2010 election that she would not implement a carbon tax.
These are not only anti global warming people, they include people who support electoral integrity, they include people who support direct action on warming, they include many people who simply believe this policy prescription won't reduce global warming, but will increase costs of living and export Australian jobs offshore.
And while people who participate in sites like ComeOn have been derided this week by some of the media and political elite class; Newspoll and Essential Media are showing that, on this issue at least, ComeOn is taking the position supported by the silent majority.
Our petition, and other future campaign activities, gives a voice for that silent majority and has been vindicated by todays Newspoll.
